We Must Give a Piece of Ourselves In Order To Get
By Dwayne Gilbert

In life, we often come across people and things that we want. Things that we desire to have as a part of our lives. What most people never understand is that we have to give first in order to get, always. Nothing is free, as everything has a cost of time, energy, effort, or money. The following story is a very powerful story about the cost, and reward, for giving.

"One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.

Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said "Why, your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but it was full of scars. It had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.

The people stared -- how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought? The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine. Mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears."

"Yes," said the old man, "yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared."

"Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges -- giving love, is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"

The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his."

There for, the most important thing to remember in life is that we may lose a piece of ourselves when we give, but we must always give to be reminded of the beauty in the world around us. In order to experience that beauty, we put our own hearts at risk by not having a piece given in return for the part that we give away. The same is true when it comes to success and the law of attraction. We must first give to the world, to the universe, to the better of man before we can receive what we want for ourselves. Be willing to risk a piece of yourself in order to attract everything you want in your life, and the universe will reward you ten fold, even during those times when it seems to much to bear.

It's Dick, back again with your weekly tip for Applying the Law of Attraction!

I recently reread this book - you may even have it on your shelf right now!

It comes very highly recommended, so I wanted to let you know about it, in case you haven't read it yet.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill This is the Granddaddy of all Personal Development books. Some would say it's the only book you need. Though Hill never uses the term Law of Attraction all of the 13 steps in this book are directly related to applying it. I spoke with a friend the other day who is reading Think and Grow Rich for the 13th time. By the way, he's a multimillionaire.

As always, we'd love to hear you own tips and tricks.

Take care, and we'll see ya next week!

It’s Time to Fly Down From the Tree

I attended a conference a few weeks ago and one of the speakers said something that really resonated with me. The comment was “God provides the birds with an abundant supply of food, but the birds have to go get it” I’ve been noticing more and more negative articles about the Law of Attraction. It’s being called a scam, a fantasy, Pollyanna. Do you suppose the authors of those articles are sitting in the trees meditating, reciting affirmations and just waiting for the Universe to put a worm in their mouths?

Positive Thinking (alone) Does NOT Work… Positive Action combined with Positive Thinking Does. This is precisely why there are several steps necessary for the Law of Attraction to work the way you want it to. This article will focus on Action.

To receive, achieve, or get what you want you will first need to be the person that receives, achieves, and gets what it is you want. You can’t be that person without acting like that person acts. That will require you knowing how that person acts (duh). Who do you know has accomplished what it is you want to accomplish? Mine is Benjamin Franklin yours may be Donald Trump or Michael Jordan. All of us have heroes. Let me give you an example of what I’ve done to make an effort to be like Franklin. First I read his autobiography, next I listened to several audio versions of different biographies; I’ve watched the History Channel and PBS versions of his biography. I guess I’m a little obsessive. Here is something Franklin did that all of us could benefit from. He had 13 character traits that he worked on improving each day. This is a really important point because the easiest way to make changes in ourselves is one day at a time. A little bit at a time. The character traits were Self-control – being determined and disciplined in your efforts, Silence – listen better in all discussions, Order – don’t agonize… organize, Pledge – promise to put your best effort into today’s activities, Thrift – watch how you spend your money and your time, Productivity – work hard, work smart, have fun, Fairness – teat others the way you want to be treated, Moderation – avoid extremes, Cleanliness – have a clean mind, body and habits, Tranquility – take time to slow down and “smell the roses”, Charity – help others, Humility – keep your ego in check, Sincerity – be honest with yourself and others. If one were to focus on one of these traits each day and just do their best to practice it, one could not help but become a better person.

Other actions that can be taken are to gather pictures of places you want to go and things you want to do and have. Place the pictures on a board where you will see them everyday several times a day. I KNOW you’ve heard it before… have you done it? Have you achieved what you want? Well then for goodness sake try it, it certainly won’t hurt. Don’t sit in the tree waiting for the Universe to drop a worm into your mouth.

The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a past and a future memory. By reinforcing with images, reading and listening what you want to do, be and have you are creating the belief in the subconscious mind that you can be, no, are the person who does, is and has all that you desire.

It's time to fly down from the tree, it's time to fly to the bush, and it's time to eat the berries.

Law of Attraction News
May 13, 2007

Hello my friend,

It's Dick Ingersoll here, from Law of Attraction News.

Just dropping in to share a practical tip for Applying the Law of Attraction with you!

Hope you're having a first rate week!

Did you know that it helps to...

Develop the habit of reviewing your list of desires everyday. Set aside just 10 minutes a day. That's all it takes. Take the time to review your list, visualize those things on your list, and feel the feelings of having those things right now. Within a few days, it will become a habit to review your list and visualize those things you want. The hardest part is taking that first step.

That's our tip for the week!
Well, thanks again for joining us,
We appreciate you!

Take care,

Welcome to Law of Attraction News! I hope you will enjoy the new style for the newsletter!

For a year now I've been publishing the Law of Attraction News Bi-Weekly and the response has been very favorable. So, I've decided to change the format some and go to a weekly newsletter. As always I really enjoy your feedback on the newsletter so keep it coming.

Well, let's get started with your first tip for Applying the Law of Attraction!

Write down what you want. So few people create a list of what it is they want out of life, and even fewer people actually put it down on paper. Take the time to write down everything you want to do, have, and be.

Again, I appreciate your joining us - and we'll see you in a few days!

Well, thanks again for joining us, We appreciate you!

Take care,
Dick Ingersoll

Carnival of Deliberate Creation #5: 5/3/07

Welcome to the fifth edition of the Carnival of Deliberate Creation. This carnival is all about providing resources for those interested in the Law of Attraction. For this edition I received many, many wonderful, well written submissions, and deciding which entries to feature was a major challenge–though one I am grateful for!

My solution? Feature them all! But, since there isn’t time (at least in my day) to do an extensive write up for each feature, I’m simply going to present an extended list of featured articles. There really is a lot of great stuff here. Also, don’t ignore the excellent articles farther down the list, they deserve your attention too.
