Let’s consider this together. There were obviously some things about his girlfriend that were keeping him interested. So I asked him to list them. I also asked him to list what it was about her he didn’t like. It’s ok to consider things you don’t like about a person or job because once done they can be restated as positive attributes. It’s important to get very clear on what you’re looking for whether it’s in a person, a job, or any goal.
We then discussed turning those attributes he was looking for into positive affirmations. For example, I’m so happy and grateful that I have found a partner who shares my interest in spiritual pursuits. I’m so excited and thankful that I’ve found a partner who shares my interest in the outdoors. Go through each attribute and write an affirmation for each one. Start reviewing and reciting them each morning and afternoon. Place them around your bathroom mirror so that you can read them while at the sink in the morning.
Now that he knew what he was looking for we started the envisioning step. I asked him to paint a picture either in his mind, written, or drawn of his ideal partner. Was she a brunette? What type of body? What color hair. We then discussed closing his eyes and actually seeing this person, doing the things together that they both enjoy doing. It’s best to do this when going to bed at night and again when awakening in the morning. These are the times that you’re closest to alpha brainwave state and most susceptible to having you visions become part of you.
We then headed into the action step. He was on his way to a conference sponsored by Bob Proctor and some others from The Secret team. What an opportunity to meet others of like interests, I was really excited for him. This is a perfect example of taking action to achieve what you desire. Whatever your desire or goal you can’t just daydream about it. If it’s a car get the brochure, if it’s a job read the help wanted. You’ve got to listen to your heart and it will tell you what you need to do. The actions you need to take will start to reveal themselves to you.
So what’s next? Gratitude of course. Many people don’t really understand this step but it is crucial. Without belief that you will find your perfect partner or job or whatever I promise you… you NEVER will. You can’t be truly grateful for something you don’t believe you will have and gratitude helps you with that belief. If you’ll return to the affirmation step you’ll see I used the words I’m so happy and grateful that… Gratitude is not really a separate step in applying the Law of Attraction. It is used throughout the process. When you’re envisioning being with your new partner and experiencing the joy of spending time with this person show gratitude for the experience. When you’re taking action and going to the places where you see yourself finding your new partner believe that she will be there be grateful that you are in the right place to find your perfect partner.
Isn’t it wonderful how when you’re in tune with the Universe wonderful things just begin to happen? I just received a message from the young man who inspired this article. He’s back from the conference and he had a wonderful time. He didn’t mention finding the girl of his dreams there but there is no doubt in my mind that he is on his way and the young lady he is looking for will be in his life soon. He’s Applying the Law of Attraction and he knows it works.

Let's start focusing on the most positive aspects of our job. Over the next few days, when you're truly enjoying what you're doing at work make a note of it. For example, I just got off a training call with a client and the client was very appreciative of the time (even though they paid for it) and what we accomplished on the call. I had a good time. So I make a note that I enjoy opportunities to train on the phone. Ok, so you get the idea. Now if this takes more than a few days fine just keep at it until you have a list of 10 or 12 things you enjoy about your job.
Now, let's take your list and review it. Are there some entries that are similar or require the same skill set from you? Group those together. Take your new combined list and start to outline the skills your are using in the different activities that you are having a good time doing. This is the Know step.
Now we get to the Law of Attraction part.
Take each group and design an ideal job description around those skills. Take at least 1 week or more to do this. Be as specific as you are able in designing this job. This is the Ask step.
Write down a visualization exercise around this ideal job. Where are you working? Not what company but where - outside, inside, in the forest, in an auditorium? What are you wearing? A suit, Bermuda shorts, a ski parka? Are you alone or are there 1000 people sitting and waiting for you to speak? Make it as clear as you can. Do you travel to get to work? Are you working in your pajamas? Work on this visualization as often as the spirit moves you make it an ongoing continuous project. As your are working on this close your eyes periodically and imagine it actually taking place. This is the Envision step.
Start looking for more opportunities where you are to start doing more of these activities that you enjoy. Is there someone where you are now who does all these activities as their job? What's the job title? Do you know anyone who does what you want to do somewhere else? Get together with them and ask them what they did to prepare for this job. Is there an organization of these people who do this type of work? Join the organization. This is the Act step.
Every opportunity you get to do the activities you enjoy... Be Grateful. Thank anyone who helps you while you're working on this project. As you do something you enjoy write down a quick gratitude statement. "I am so grateful I had the opportunity to ... this afternoon" This is the Gratitude step.
It's really difficult to be unhappy or angry when you're spending the majority of your time focusing on things you enjoy doing and being grateful for them. Achieving your desires is not a destination, it's a journey.

long-lasting results. This thought tendency can be seen in what I call
the Desperation Cycle. The Desperation Cycle shows how human nature
influences us to take the easiest path instead of the best one. In
persuasion, we need to pull people out of the Desperation Cycle and
into permanent, long-term motivation.
We all know we are creatures of habit. We are like water following the
path of least resistance. As creatures of habit, we dwell in our
comfort zones, places where we don’t have to think or expend
much energy in analyzing our surroundings. In these zones, we become
complacent, comfortable and resistant to change. We live by habit and
routine in our comfort zones. We don’t stretch or strive for
excellence. We consider change only when the pain of our current
situation becomes too intense to ignore. Fear of the unknown and fear
of making mistakes are also reasons why we stay in our comfort zone. We
love our comfort zone because it is a safe place where we can reduce
our mistakes and keep our failures to a minimum. Mark Twain said,
“A cat that steps on a hot stove once will never step on a
hot stove again but neither will it step on a cold one.” The
comfort zone is safe and warm, but it keeps us paralyzed and
unmotivated to venture out of it.
In the Desperation Cycle, we first feel safe in our comfort zone. Then,

Suddenly, we fear what we are becoming and where we are going. As we
contemplate our destination, we panic and work frantically to save

time goes by. The weight then returns and you start the vicious cycle

Scientists have proven over and over that universal laws work each and every time.
For example, the Law of Gravity works every single time. You drop a brick. It hits the ground very quickly. (Watch out for your toes when you do this!)

Martin said, "Belief is the key to having The Law of Attraction work. But not everyone is able to believe, and they get what they expect -- little or no results. But once the science behind the the secret is known, belief is no longer a matter of faith. The book focuses on a scientific theory originally presented by Thomas Troward at Queens Gate in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1904, in a series called "The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science." Although his theory was hailed as brilliant by many in academia, Troward wrote and spoke in stilted, nineteenth century scientific jargon, which made the theory difficult if not impossible for ordinary people even in his day to understand. This has been remedied by the plain English translation of Troward's lectures presented in Oaklea's new book.
Martin said that a brief discussion of a quantum physics experiment also has been included, the findings of which provide sound evidence that Troward's theory is valid. Included as well are easily followed steps readers can take to put "The Secret" to work.
Thomas Troward (1847-1916) was born in Punjab, India to British parents. He was educated in England, and graduated college with gold metal honors.
